Some One is 50 !

Birthday wishes to one of my best friend's husband as he reaches that magical age 50....we can laugh as he is older than us.

The request was for a Mickey card with 50 on it. I know he likes his rugby so suggested adding a rugby ball to the card somewhere.

Using Cricut Mickey and Friends cartridge I cut one of the Mickey Mouse shapes out and all the layers . All pieces were layered up, I created a rugby ball by changing a circle shape on my Cricut Gypsy device .

I cut Mickey's hand away from his body to enable the rugby ball to fit underneath , the hand was attached on top using 1mm 3d foam pads to add dimension. .

Using Mickey Font cartridge I cut lots of numbers '5' and '0' out in both red and yellow card stock, these and the  main Mickey character were attached to white cardstock which was matted onto red and black card, to form the centre piece of the card.

The background section was created using Serif software , I position the words 'Happy 50th Birthday Iain' around each side with a scroll into each corner. this was printed out and again matted onto red and black card stock. the topper section was attached to the centre of the card to finish.

My only wonder is did we put enough '50's on the card.

A Christmas Cricut Character card

A card request for a Christmas card for my neighbours mum, a character card was requested.

Using Cricut Everyday day doll cartridge I cut a standard doll shape at 3.75 inches in height and an additional head.

I cut hair, shoes, dress and jumper from various characters on the cartridge. To make it a bit more Christmassy I cut a bobble hat out in red and white card stock and layered these parts up.

The tree was taken from Christmas Cheer cartridge , and baubles were cut out using glitter cardstock. A large silver glitter star was also cut out to attach to the top of the tree.

The presents were cut out in red and purple card stock and contrasting silver mirror card for the bows and ribbon sections.

All parts were fixed together, to add extra detail to the tree I added some glitter embroiderery thread to resemble tinsel.

A personalised message was printed and matt and layered to the base of the card to finish.

A special Christmas birthday card

A request this month to create a special Christmas Birthday card.

Using a selection of creative Expression products , I started using Sue Wilson Peony flowers stamps and stamped the two smallest flowers with crimson red Stampin up ink.

Using Sue Wilson  Finishing touches collection Perfect Peony  I cut the stamped flowers out when dry and set these aside to make the main card.

Using white card stock and using  Sue Wilson dies striplet collection floral meadow - I cut one strip out . I layered this onto beige card and and then matted onto red card stock.

Using Sue Wilson Heart lattice embossing folder  I cut a large 7" x 7"  section of white card stock, this was matted onto red card and attached to the base card.

I stamped using black ink and Phil Martin scribbled sentimental stamps Happy Birthday stamp onto white card stock, these strips were cut down and matted onto red card card.

Finally all the red stamped flowers has iridescent glitter added tot the centre of each flower and red Nuvo glitter added to the middle part of the petals .

All flowers where then attached to the centre panel and the four larger flowers attached to the top and bottom of the sentiment strips with two smaller flowers.

Joshua is 1

A card commission for a small boys 1st Birthday.

Using a digi stamp image, I printed direct onto white smooth card stock. I coloured the image in using Promarker pens.

The image was cut into a rectangle shape and matted onto light brown and blue card.

A square piece of coordination card stock was cut and embossed using Diesire Embossalicious - Birthday Text folder. This was then sanded down to reveal the lighter core colour and then buffered up, this was matted onto  brown card and a ribbon attached across with a tied section , this was then matted onto blue card and fixed to the base card.

A personalised message was printed and matted to match the card and the main image. A number 1 was cut using my Cricut machine and Don Juan cartridge , cutting a blue shadow section and  a brown number 1. Both pieces were fixed together using double sided tape.

The main coloured image, number one and personal message were all fixed using 1mm 3d foam pads.

Birthday card for my Sister in Law

Well my Sister in Law reaches a milestone of a birthday this year so, I had to create a card with the age on it would be unfair not too, me being younger that is.

As she is a keen crafty person , I decided to create a card using my button dies and manikin die.

I cut the manikin  and bobbins out twice in cream card stock. I then cut two styles of buttons in both red and green card stock.

I printed a personalised message and using craft dies by Sue Wilson Caribbean Island collection - St Kitts , cut a green mount section with lace detail. Using white card stock I cut an aperture out using one of the dies in the St Kitts set and matted the white card onto a red aground this was fixed to the base card.

The green die cut mount was then positioned over the matching aperture using 1mm 3d foam pads. the personalise message was attached also using 1mm 3d foam pads to raise the message slightly.

One of the manikin cut shapes was cut and parts layered onto the remaining piece . I then cut a thimble and scissors from mirror card and fixed these at the waist with small silver brads. Green ribbon was tied around the waist and attached with double sided tape to secure. This was positioned to the side of the mounted aperture.

Green embroidery thread was wrapped around both cream bobbins and fixed at the back these were fixed to the base card using stroing double sided tape.

Finally the buttons were attached along the base of the card using both glue and some 3d foam pads, 3 buttons were also added to each top corner of the card to finish.

Good Luck at your new School card

As my youngest son starts big school , I decided to make a card for him to hopefully wish him luck.

Using my Cricut Paper dolls cartridge I cut a doll out and used most of the cut pieces from the prom boy and groom sections.

I cut the tie section in three colour's and although quite fiddly created a striped tie to match his new uniform.

The white background section was created using Hessian embossing folder . This section was matted onto both red and black card stock and black photo corners were added.

The main doll figure was attached to the card with strong double sided tape.

Finally a personalised message was printed and matted and layered to the base of the card. Lets hope he enjoys his first day at secondary school, hope so as he has at least 5 more years to go there.

Birthday Card for Denise

Time to make a card for my special friend Denise.

Taking a Tatty Twinkles stamp , I stamped the girl image on white card stock. I cut a square of card and stamped the smaller icon stamps, the parcel , candle and swirl from the birthday set to create a back ground .

Using Promarker pens I coloured both the main image and the background in purples and reds, creating my own polka dot design on the dress and hair bands.

I stamped the birthday message and matted the image and the message onto purple glitter card, adding small triangular sections to add to the corners of the main image.

The background card was matted onto black glitter card and again small glitter corners were added , black ribbon was wrapper 2/3rds down the card for added detail.

The main image and message were then attached with both 1mm and 2mm foam pads to add dimension.

Hope Denise has a lovely birthday and likes her card.

The art of Book Folding

Haven't done a blog update for a while as I been otherwise occupied with some well needed decoration and house works to our property.

Whilst a lot of my craft goodies were in storage thought I would attempt a new craft which didn't require to much equipment.

I purchased a second hand book and a book folding pattern and a ruler and pencil and started following the pattern for the word friend.  Its a therapeutic art and I completed most of the book folding over 2 evenings whilst in front of  the television.

With a particular friend in mind who's birthday was coming up this month , I started decorating the cover of the book with cerise, pink and green card stock. I covered the inside page next to where the word started and ended to make the word stand out more. I attached two pieces of ribbon joined together with a diamonte buckle and fixed this across the book and attached the end to both the front and back covers of the book . I mat and layered card on the both front and back of the outside of the book and the spine. I cut 8 photo corners and fixed these on the outside of the book.
I printed a message out connected to the word Friend and mat and layered this onto cerise and green  card and fixed to the front cover of the book. A personalised tag was printed and cut into a circle and matted onto two scalloped circles . Ribbon was attached to the tag and secured inside the book and the tag folded over onto the back cover of the book.

To finish decorating I cut five flowers out and secured them with light pink organza ribbon at the centre. Using a Sizzix Thinlet die - meadow butterfly , I created 3 butterflies , the flowers and butterflies where fixed both inside and on both outside covers of the book.
Using my Cricut Gypsy and Mickey font cartridge I created the name Susan and welded the letters together before cutting to go on the spine of the book.

Having created the Friend book , I decides to create some more, so I next started a book with the word Dad.

This being a smaller word didn't take me long and decorating was also quite quick too. Using my Cricut Gypsy and Soccer cartridge I created some football boots and then die cut football our using my Quickutz soccer ball.

I attached a decorative football design ribbon across the book and attached the end to both the front and back covers of the book. The book inside and out was matted with both black and white card stock. Black photo corners were cut to decorate the outside cover.

A dad sentiment was printed and matted onto both white and black card stock and fixed to the front cover of the book.

Two footballs and boots were fixed to the top and bottom section of the from cover.

On the back cover of the book the die cut footballs were fixed randomly , some where cut in half to even go up to the edge of the cover.

Finally the word football was created using my Cricut Gypsy and Mickey Font cartridge and welding the word together was cut and fixed down the spine of the book.

The boots and football were attached using a hot glue gun to the inside pages of the book for added strength.

Still under construction Ive folded the words Mr & Mrs  and Mum...
