Trainer Birthday Cards

Another 2 cards created this week using Crafters Companion Strawberry Kisses - My Boy Stamp.

I just love this stamp, coloured in using Promarker pens and matted onto brown card stock.

Background spot card printed using Strawberry Kisses Papercrafting CD Rom. I'm not a fan of CD crafting, I think mainly because I spend to much time on the computer working during the day so the thought of going back onto the computer in the evening is a definite no no, but have to admit some of the backgrounds papers that can be printed off are really very good.

The spotted card was matted on to brown card and fixed to base card. Hand drawn stitched detail around stamped images using a fine nib black liner.

A further variation of the above, this one just had its edges coloured using Tim Holtz walnut stain distressing ink, on corners of spotted card.

Valentines Day

Could not go with out making a card for my husband during Valentines week, even though he did go off to watch his beloved team play football on Valentines Day.

The card this year was made using Crafters Companion Swalk stamp 'engaged'. The phrase was taken from Crafters Companion Strawberry Kisses 'together'. Both stamped onto plain white card stock and coloured in using Promarkers and Copic pens. Both stamped images cut into circles using spellbinder circle dies and matted onto blue scalloped circles.
Decorative backing paper matted onto blue and brown card and attached to base card. Strip of coordinating card attached across the card and message attached over strip.

Wellington Boot Birthday Card

Birthday card for a friend this week required also.

Image stamped on plain white card stock - stamp used was Crafters Companion Strawberry Kisses 'Together' . Coloured in using Promarker pens. Matted and layered onto green card scalloped square (cut from spellbinder dies). Then a base created using green spotted card and green card to finish. Greeting printed of computer onto white card and again matted onto green card stock. Stitched detail hand drawn using fine nib black liner around image and greeting.

Car Birthday Card

Another birthday card required this week, for a middle aged man - with hopefully a sense of humour!

The VW Camper image was stamped onto plain white card stock , stamp sets used Kanban 'Retro Cars' 18-21 and Keep on Running. I stamped the Camper Van a second time and decoupaged the number plate up and added recipients name. Keep on Running stamp used and fixed to front tyre of van.

Coloured in using Promarkers in  traditional colour for a camper van. I added some fancy brads for headlights. Matted and layered on orange and blue scalloped circles using spellbinders dies and then matted and layered on retro glittered card, orange and blue card. Strips of card attached across card and humorous message attached.

New Home Card

Busy week with making cards and a few late nights.

First on the list was a New Home card.

I stamped the house images using Polka Doodles, Stamp Doodles by Nichola Hall, I then added pebbles and trees around the houses. All were coloured in using Promarkers predominately pastel colours used. Matted and layered on Brown and Blue card stock. Greeting was printed on plain white card and mounted accordingly. Finished off with ribbon across the card and a metal key charm fixed with a ribbon bow.

Laptop Card

Started of being a quiet week on the card requests, so I took the opportunity to start making some cards for myself - up until Tuesday evening anyway!
My husband came home from work and said one of his colleagues was leaving and could I make a card based around computers for staff to sign. My initial thought was 'panic' - I don't have any computer based stamps, but whilst eating my dinner an idea came into my mind, and I have to admit I laughed to myself.

Well the week before I had purchased 'The Boxer' from Crafters Companion, the ideal tool for just this type of card. I created three black sealed boxes and one open box (to create a draw) that fitted a compact disc in. When all stuck together this created a rectangle, the base of my laptop.  I then took a strip of black card and wrapped it round my boxes to cover.

I folded a black piece of card to create my main card section which was stuck to my box base.

I typed and printed the letters from a keyboard on to light grey card, and then cut out each key - approx 1cm square. These were stuck to the inside of the card, this was a bit time consuming to get in correct order (and correct way round - yes my number 8 key did start upside down).   I cut a large rectangle out of dark grey card and fixed to upper part of the card - to create my screen.

My Cricut Create machine and Gypsy Device then came into use to make the yellow letters which I welded together and red letters to create the phrase 'Sorry You're Leaving'. The phrase was fixed to the grey rectangle on the card. The Kodak circle ID disc was also created using my Cricut Gypsy device and attached to the lid of the laptop.

The final part was to cut large circles from white card stock to cover the CDs - the staff would write their farewell greeting/comments on - 4 discs were created as about 20 staff need to sign the card. I just used old CDs so a good way to recycle.

The word 'eject' was printed on a label and fixed to the movable draw.

I enjoyed making this card, it did take a few evenings to create but I think the end result was well worth it.
