Birthday Wishes to our Teenager

Time to make a special card for our son who celebrates his 13th birthday. He is football mad so the theme of the card was easy to choose.

Using my Cricut Gypsy I wanted to create a hexagonal shape. Using Cricut Christmas Cheer I selected a plain square shape, and altered the dimensions to create a rectangle which I copied 3 times. By turning two of the rectangle a number of degrees to the left and right  and overlapping the rectangles I created a hexagon shape and welded them all together to make one solid shape.

I copied the shape a number of times on the one mat. I cut out in both white and black card stock. The white shapes where then embossed with a dots embossing folder.

A black square was cut and fixed to a 6" x 6" card blank. A smaller green square was matted onto the black. Starting near the middle I fixed the cut shapes to create a football effect , trimming the edge sections before fixing to the green base card.

Three tag shapes were created in both black and green card and hessian fabric. This was fixed using silicon glue. Two personal messages were printed and fixed again using silicon glue.

A Christening wish for Sophia

A christening card made for a special young lady Sophia.

Not having much religious craft material I decided to go to La Pashe Best of 2012 CD that I purchased as this has a variety of craft material on it.

Using the 'Value decoupage Little Miracle' images I printed the pink version onto white textured Bazzill card stock.

I cut the decoupage pieces and matted onto the main squared image using 1mm 3d foam pads.

I  matted the main image onto a pink coloured card square to creating a narrow border.

A personalised message was printed and matted onto pink card stock. Both the message and the main topper were fixed to the card using 1mm 3d foam pads.
Pink photo corners where die cut to add to each corner of the background section and smaller triangles added  to the main image section to finish.

Spurs Fan David turns 50

A Football style card required for David who was celebrating his 50 birthday this year.

I made this using my Cricut Create machine and the Cricut Gypsy. Cartridges used were Soccer and Disney - Mickey Font.
I used my Gypsy Device and selected the football shirt (from the Soccer Cartridge) and hid all the detail cut so I had a basic shirt shape, I then welded the shirt, boot (shadow feature) and ball (shadow). I positioned the name and numbers within the shirt, the font taken from Disney - Mickey Font. This was cut out using the main football shirt colour.
I also cut in a contrast colour the name and number again to insert in the main shirt once main cut completed.

I cut the shirt again in the blue bazzill card stock to add the collar and sleeve detail.
I cut 2 further boot shadows in white Bazzill card stock.
I cut the ball (detailed cut) and two boot (detailed cut) in bazzill black card stock. I attached the boots and football detail cuts over the relevant shadows.
The 2nd Boot was fixed on main shirt using 3d foam.
The 'Happy' and 'Birthday' banners were  created using the Cricut Mickey Mouse font Cartridge and cut out from a white section of card, the letters were cut again in blue card and inserted into the relevant sections.

The card was 8" x 8" in size. The two word strips were added to the top and bottom of the card and matted onto blue card. A white section was added in between.

The shirt section was attached to part of the middle of the card along with a football Cricut Football character created using the Cricut Everyday Doll Cartridge.

To finish it was requested to have Spurs emblem on the card somewhere so two rosette's were created and added to the top white strip to complete.

Wedding Day Wishes

My youngest sons Teacher is getting married over the summer break so time to create a special wedding card.

Using my Cricut Gypsy device I found some heart shapes. I created an additional layer on my Gypsy file and created the dress and suit items using the Cricut Paperdoll Cartridge but sized them accordingly to the hearts.

All pieces were cut out and fixed to the two base hearts. small pearl gems were added to the neck of the dress for detail.

A square section of white card was embossed and matted onto blue card stock. Blue ribbon was fixed across and a diamonte buckle fixed at the lower section of the card. The backing section was then fixed to the base card. The heart images were fixed to a white section of card which was matted onto a decorative rectangle cut using Spellbinders decorative rectangles dies. Four scalloped corner sections were cut to add detail to the corners.

A message was printed and matted to match the main image and fixed to the base of the card using 1mm 3d foam pads.

Lets hope Cara and Tom have a fantastic Wedding Day and enjoy their summer break before they both return to their respective schools in September.

Another Academic Year over

Time to make cards for the teacher and Teaching assistant as my youngest son moves on a year.

Using Joanna Sheen House Mouse Triple CD collection I found the ideal image and backing paper to suit leaving cards for teachers.

I printed 2 sets of backing papers off and 2 of the decoupage mouse images. I cut the individual pieces out and layered up the main card image. Each image was matted onto card stock, green chosen for the male and purple for the female. I then added a further matt of black card. The backing paper was cut and matted to match the image and fixed to a 5" x 7" card.

A personalised message was printed and matted to match me the main images and both were fixed to the card using 1mm 3d foam pads.

Coordinating pencils were cut using a sizzix sizzlet die, each pencil shape was cut repeatedly for the individual parts and cut and glued together, these again were fixed to the card using 1mm 3d foam pads so they are slightly raised.

Also on the CD's are some Bookmark templates that can be personalised with a message and printed, two of these were printed and matted on to card, all with individual messages to the respective teacher. A hole was punched at the top and an eyelet fixed and black ribbon added to finish. These bookmarks were attached to the card on the back by a pocket created from clear vellum, so they could slide in and out.

Fathers Day Cricut Character card

A card request for a special Dad for Fathers day. The request was for a character card , with a man in a chair with pint of beer and his dog, I added the remote for fun as every male has control of the TV remote control.

The chair was actually the bed from the Everyday Dolls cartridge, this was cut out a few times to create the layered effect. The main body was cut out and he was dressed, but the trouser section was cut again and cut down to create the lower legs which were added using 1mm 3d foam pads to again add dimension and the effect of him sitting.

The beer glass was cut from a sizzlets die in shrink plastic, coloured with promarker pens and then heated to shrink to the appropriate smaller size.

The dog was cut out from black, brown and white card to create a mixed coloured dog.

Plain white card stock was embossed for the background and matted onto brown and black card. Decorative corners were cut to add detail.

A personalised message was printed and fixed to the base to complete.

Happy Fathers Day

Slightly behind on my blog updates due to IT issue but now back, so look out for the details of recent cards made.

For Fathers Day I created the following card for my husband and the variation below for my own Dad.

I used a new die cutting set from X Cut Suit dies. The pieces were cut from black and white card stock and patterned paper.

Patterned paper was used for the back ground which was matted onto red, black and yellow card.

The die cut shape was fixed using double sided tape.

A personalised message was printed and matted onto coloured card and fixed to the base of the card.
