A Card for a Knitter

A birthday card required this week for my sister in law's birthday.

As she is a keen knitter I decided on a design from Joanna Sheen's House Mouse Triple CD collection.

The main decoupage image was printed onto smooth white card and the separate pieces cut  out and assembled using 1mm 3d foam pads, PVA glue was used to secure the mices tails in place. This image was matted onto purple card stock, and metal coated brads fixed to each corner.

Using my smallest knitting needles, I knitted several rows using DMC embroidery thread, and slid these onto a cocktail stick. The points of the cocktail sticks were snipped to make blunt ends for saftey. At one end of each cocktail stick a narrow strip of paper was wound round and secured with PVA glue. Once dry the ends were coloured in using Promarker pen -sandstone, to match the cocktail stick.

A Happy Birthday message was printed and the knitting fixed using silicon glue, once dried this was matted onto purple cards stock.

The background paper was printed off The House Mouse Project Book CD , this was matted onto purple card and fixed tot the 6" x  6" base card.
The topper section's were fixed at a slanted angle using 3d foam pads to finish.
