Haven't update my blog for a while so here goes a brief catch up of what I've been up to over the last 6 months - the detail maybe brief until I get to recent cards created.

Birthday wishes to a special friend Karen who's celebrating her birthday today.
I initially struggled with an idea for the theme of her card this year, I've exhausted nails, nail varnish and sweets and then I thought Vodka !
My attempt at a Vodka bottle and glittered glass just seemed the ideal theme in the end ....

A Lego of an Idea.

Time to make a card for my neighbour's son. He is obsessed with Lego (he is in his early 20's) but is still building with the little coloured bricks.

I had the idea of making a card using the Lego bricks, I measured a piece of real Lego to get the true dimensions and went to create a combination of rectangles, squares and then circles for the small dots, the shapes where all designed on my Cricut Gypsy device.

The cutting out on my Cricut Create Machine was the easy part, I cut from yellow, blue and red card. I then cut lots of circles from the green card.

It was at this point with all the tiny pieces cut out that my husband says 'that's going to be a nightmare to put together' and then left to go and watch a football match. I will be honest my husband will admit he doesn't have much knowledge when it comes to making cards - but boy was he right in his assumption - it took hours.
I took my own son's green Lego platform base and carefully measured out and marked on a piece of green card stock, small pencil mark where each circle would appear.

I then started spacing the large shapes to create the words 'Happy Birth Day'. Once I was happy with the positioning of the the block's, I then attached small 1mm double sided foam pads to all the pencil marks showing - time consuming I know. I then attached a small green circle over each foam pad.
I then added the same colour corresponding  circles onto foam pads onto the lettered blocks. I also overlapped blocks to add dimension.
Lets hope Nick likes his card and has a great birthday, he is bound to get some real Lego I'm sure.
